Although Parsons left the group after the second album and Hillman left after the fourth, the other members copyrighted the name and used it well into the 80’s with very limited notability. I’ll concentrate on the first two albums here because not only were they the best but they define a genre. Sadly, Gram Parsons died on Sept. 19, 1973 in Joshua Tree, CA after a long drug binge. His body was to be flown to New Orleans for a burial. However, Parsons' road manager stole the body after the funeral and carried it out to the desert, where he cremated it.
