FEATURED ARTIST: Flying Burrito Brothers
Formed in Los Angeles in 1969 by Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman, former members of The Byrds, FBB mixing up country and rock & roll in a way no one had done before influencing countess fellow musicians. Although Parsons left the group after the second album and Hillman left after the fourth, the other members copyrighted the name and used it well into the 80ís with very limited notability. Iíll concentrate on the first two albums here because not only were they the best but they define a genre. Sadly, Gram Parsons died on Sept. 19, 1973 in Joshua Tree, CA after a long drug binge. His body was to be flown to New Orleans for a burial. However, Parsons' road manager stole the body after the funeral and carried it out to the desert, where he cremated it.
