Formed in 1991 and taking their name from a Screaming Jay Hawkins song, John Darnielle & Peter Hughes play indie pop/rock reminiscent of Red House Painters or Interpol. The Mountains Goats released 13 albums but, the first four were in cassette form only using the tape hiss as an additional instrument. WMUH is fortunate to have five of the great CDs.
