Sultry vocalist and pianist Geethali Norah Jones Shankar was born on March 30, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. Although her mother raised her in Texas she returned to New York in 1999 to record and play the coffeehouses in the city. She blends jazz and vocal pop with blues and contemporary folk to hypnotic effect. Her third CD hit the street this past January.
