They had 10 chart topping singles in the very short time that they were together. Formed in NYC in 1964 singing folk and what became know as sunshine pop, the groups four members were Phillips, his wife Michelle, Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty, who died last January around this time. They released four LP's in three years then reunited in 1971 for one more album to complete their contractual obligation.
