Formed between 1989 and 1992 in New York City by David Berman, Stephen Malkmus (Pavement's co-founder) and Bob Nastanovich, the silver Jews spontaneity and clever lyrical storytelling are their trademarks. The sound is pure alternative country/rock with a splash of pop mixed in for good measure. Joining the group on the latter two albums is David Berman's wife, Cassie, contributing as a duet vocalist on several tracks. There are six released CDs worthy of hunting down and adding to your collection.
