FEATURED ARTIST: Throwing Muses
Formed in 1983 by guitarist/vocalist Kristin Hersh and her 16-year-old half-sister Tanya Donelly, the Throwing Muses offer to the listener folky melodies with punk energy and a pop sheen. Kristen Hersh, the groups undisputed leader, wrote most of the songs. After the first three albums, Tanya Donelly left the group to form the Breeders with Kim Deal, then Belly on her own and finally a successful solo career. Throwing Muses disbanded in 1997 then reunited briefly in 2003 releasing a second self titled album adding up to eight studio CDs.
