FEATURED ARTIST: The Kinks
Ray Davies and his brother Dave formed the Kinks in London in 1963. Originally part of the British musical invasion of America they were banned from touring the states for four years because of rowdy behavior and fights at their concerts. The Kinks power pop style has its roots in rhythm and blues like much of the popular music at that time. Over the years three of the original members of the band left due to in fighting but the group never officially broke up. Hailed as an influence on many popular bands, the Kinks released scores of albums during their nearly fifty year existence.
