FEATURED ARTIST: Pete Seeger
Still active and occasionally touring, the king of folk music just turned 90 this past weekend. Pete Seeger began his musical career in the 1940's as a member of the Almanac Singers then the Weavers. In the 50's he refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee and almost went to prison for it. He was a pioneer of protest music in the 60's in response to the Vietnam war, continuing in that vein for civil rights and environmental causes until the present. He helped penned some classic tunes that influenced generations of folk musicians. Pete Seeger released many dozens of albums over a highly prolific lifetime.
