FEATURED ARTIST: Fruit Bats
Formed in Chicago by Eric D. Johnson back in 1999, the Fruit Bats have a distinctive folk pop sound that drifts on occasion into American roots territory. Singer/songwriter Johnson, who is also a member of the Shins, is joined by multi-instrumentalist Gillian Lisee on recent albums along with a rotating cast of various musicians to flesh out the sound. A few years back they moved to Seattle but remain dedicated to off beat folk influences. The Fruit Bats have released four incrementally improving CDs.
