FEATURED ARTIST: The Allman Brothers Band
Southern rock with a heavy blues reliance propelled the Allman Brothers Band to world wide renown back in the early 1970's. Their influence of multigenerational musicians makes them a central pillar of hard rock. Session guitarist Duane Allman started the band in the late 60's recruiting second guitarist, Dickey Betts and vocalist/keyboard playing brother, Greg last. Although not as exciting, the group survived Duane Allman's motorcycle death in late 1971. The Allman Brothers Band released more than two dozen albums since their formation in 1969; nearly half of them live recordings.
