FEATURED ARTIST: The Clash
The legendary band, The Clash, formed in London in 1976 after singer/guitarist John Mellor aka Joe Strummer agreed to join the singerless group. Two lead guitarists, Mick Jones and Keith Levene along with bassist Paul Simonon, who coined the bands name, and drummer Terry Chimes had already been rehearsing for months to be the next Sex Pistols. With Strummer they spectacularly achieved that goal. The Clash was a rebellious experimental punk rock act that dabbled with various musical forms especially reggae and rockabilly. Peaking in 1982, The Clash dissolved in 1986 after their dismal final album. They released six LPs in ten years.
